Picture Found On My Computer

Every day when I sit down at this computer there are different pictures on the desktop. I always look at these and make snide comments because I am a condescending tool and waste of humanity. Today the picture on the desktop was this picture.

I need to know the origins of this picture. I need to know who took it. Who were they? What did they see? Maybe I can walk where they walked and the greatness will rub off. Maybe I can meet this intrepid space hero, who I am sure is named JOHN AMERICA, and thank him by for saving the world from space fire by IGNORING SPACE FIRE LIKE IT WASN'T FIRE FROM SPACE UNTIL IT GAVE UP AND CEASED TO BE A THREAT TO THE CITY OF NEW YORK.

I want to take more pictures of birds actually. Birds are rad. It might be because I took this picture in the dead of winter but something about this picture strikes me as crisp and cold. And it has a bird in it. Birds, birds, birds birds birds birds birds

White Balance

Real photographers occasionally remind me that white balance is a a thing and I should probably pay attention to how I'm using it at some point. I haven't really done this, mostly because I am such a gosh-darned freewheeler. I barrel recklessly along auto-white balance avenue without any regard for the consequences. Seriously though I have no idea what white balance is. Sometimes when I set it to things that are obviously wrong interesting things happen.
